Dance Program

Come dance with us!
We start our dance program shortly after the school year starts.
Each class meets once a week at Enders Road and in May we put on a great recital!!
Loads of fun!

Our 2009-10 Dance Program classes offered are:

Ballet

Jazz

Tap

Musical Theater

Our dance educator for this year is Samantha Sidwell, "Ms. Sam".  She has 24 years vested in dance education.  Credentials include studying at Newcomb College thru Tulane University; certified in all subjects through Dance Masters of America, and participating in continuing education seminars annually.

We have approximately 150 girls and boys that are enjoying the program this year.  Classes are held on most Mondays and Tuesdays that school is in session.  Our rehearsal will be on May 3rd and our performance will be on May 4th at the Eagle Hill Middle School auditorium.

The HSA committee leaders for the Dance Program are: Maria Davis and Kelly Kellish.

Insurance details for this year:

Due to insurance requirements we will not be offering an Acro Jazz class this year.  We will be asking for a parent volunteer to stay for each dance class each week.  We will only need one parent per class.  If you sign up for a specific day and time and something comes up, please call one of the leaders or instructors so that we may find another parent or class will have to be canceled for that day.  We may need a few parents to volunteer for more than one class.  Please see Maria Davis and Kelly Kellish to sign up!  Thank you so much!

Please review the following rules and procedures for the upcoming year:

  • All students must be dressed in a black leotard and tights for class.  Color of tights may be black, tan, or pink.
  • Hair must be pulled out of the face, in a ponytail, braid, bun, etc.
  • No street clothing may be worn.  Warm up pants over your leotard may be worn on cold days.
  • Dance shoes are to be worn at class.  Please do not ware dance shoes outside.  The dance program invests money in quality shoes, please take care of them!
  • If your child is attending the 3:45p class after school, then a note must be sent to school each morning of class.  Please abide by this and make our school staff's job easier.  If there is no note, the student will be sent home on the bus.  No exceptions.  This procedure is for the safety of your child.
  • If school is canceled due to weather, so are dance classes!  We also follow the school calendar.  If school is out for the day, so are we.
  • The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is the 'go home early' drill.  There will be no dance classes that day.
  • Very Important - shoes are given out at your child's dance class.  If the shoes have to be returned because of sizing, the educator will keep the shoes.  Once your child wears the shoes, we cannot return them.  Please make sure your child's name is in all shoes.
  • Attendance is important.  Please make it easier and more fun for your child by helping them attend classes on a regular basis.
